WHAT MAKES THE MARINER BETTER?
The mariner was built in 1973 by a local family and today is still owned and operated by a local family of the Marinette area. The Mariner utilizes the latest in cinema technology so each and every patron can enjoy the films we show in the best possible environment.
The Mariner Theatre is an “Intermediate” cinema, meaning we open all the films just weeks after their original opening. There may be rare cases where we do open a new film on the original release date but in general all the films we open will be after that date. By opening the films a little later we can offer our community a lower admission price while still giving you the same or better movie environment than a first run cinema. Movies are our life at the Mariner and we're proud to serve as great a community as this.
The Mariner is the only theatre in the area that has a Dolby 650 processor that allows us to present to you Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Surround EX!
The Mariner prides itself in having the latest Dolby Digital technology, a fully updated projection booth, a clean environment (especially for each show), quality concessions and a friendly staff to serve you with a smile. Here at the Mariner, we answer to you, our patrons. You are our number one concern. If you have a problem with anything at our facility, please let us know and we will do our best to correct the problem.
Our concession stand offers over 20 different products at modest prices. Our goal at the concession stand is to offer you the best products at the lowest prices. We have great combos to choose from, all with past movie names like the Jurassic Park (medium popcorn and soda), up to the belly busting Star Wars (Large popcorn and 2 medium sodas). Kids can enjoy a Krazy Kids Combo which includes an amount of popcorn the size of our small, a 12oz soda and a choice of 3 great candies. Most importantly: All refills of popcorn and soda are free! And all taxes are included in our prices!! We don't believe its worth your time to worry about the tax and that quarter for a refill. You're here to have fun; forget about the outside world for a few hours and enjoy the movie!
Our theatres offer what nearly everyone says are the most comfortable seats in the area. They range in width from a very few at 20 inches, to the majority at 21 and 22 inches. Our distance between rows (back to back width) is an awesome 45 inches-nearly four feet! They are completely rebuilt from the ground up with new foam in them.
On the back of each seat in front of you, there is a cupholder located out of the way so you can enjoy the show without knocking over your drink-it even fits our small popcorn!
Our screens are the largest around; nearly 30 feet across! Our capacity in the theatres is 261 persons each, so there is little chance we would ever sell out for any show Hollywood can throw at us. Advanced ticketing is available at least 1 week in advance (more for bigger films) of any of our features.
We are now able to use our 30 foot screens to play giant sized video games where you the patrons can play your favorite XBOX 360 and PlayStation games on one screen or against our other screen using state of the art DLP/LCD projectors and also compete against anyone in the world via high speed wireless internet (thanks to Cyberzone). Along with adding DLP/LCD projectors this will allow us to show some special interest movies using DVD's and our Dolby 650 processor to give those DVD's Digital 5.1 or 6.1 sound! One improvement under consideration for the near future is the complete remodeling of our concession area. Also planned for the future are screen enlargements, to make a new curved silver screen stretch nearly the full width of the theatres-45 feet! This would allow us to have some of the largest screens in all of Northeast Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There is even the possibility of installing modern 35mm 3D which tends to be brighter than the digital 2k presentation. So please continue to visit the Mariner Theatre. We want to be your hometown theatre now and for the next 100 years to come!
After all that, our main goal is still to offer you the latest technology, best service, a clean environment, lowest prices, and the most fun you could possibly have at the movies. We are Marinette's most comfortable theatre and proud of it! We may not be able to afford the 2k digital cinema projectors (which are quickly becoming obsolete and being replaced with modern 4k units) used in place of 35mm film but have you ever had a problem at the Mariner watching our films and if you have were you not promptly taken care of? We are very proud of our track record of near perfect 35mm projection, keeping our films bright, clean, clear of scratches and always running in the industry leading Dolby Digital Surround sound and Surround EX. Give us a chance and you will walk away amazed at how an independent can make you love going to the movies again.
